Need a counter for your web site? Need one counter script to serve all of your virtual hosting customers? Want to give away free counters? Power Counter supports an unlimited number of users and web sites linking to it and is called by just one line of JavaScript code on any of your web pages! It does not require SSI (Server Side Includes), root access, or any other server dependant protocols. Power Counter can also log all hits to a separate file, will automatically determine the page a visitor is on and log the correct hit, and is a breeze to set up.

Installation:

Power Counter 1.0 automatically installs on your web site in seconds Or, follow the below instructions to install manually.

After you place Power Counter in your cgi-bin directory, change the directory settings in the beginning of the script to fit your server, then chmod it to 755. Now, just place the below code on any of your web pages:

<SCRIPT SRC="http://www.yourserver.com/cgi-bin/powercounter.cgi?file=filename"></SCRIPT>

If you do not place anything after file= then counter.txt will be the default counter file. If you choose to put a filename, then Power Counter will use that filename as the counter file. This is good if you want others to have their own counter on your server! If you choose to log all hits, the same filename will be used, but .log will be appended.
