Installation:

Banner Exchanger automatically installs on your web site in seconds Or, follow the below instructions to install manually.

• Upload bannerex.cgi to your cgi-bin directory
• Edit directories to the appropriate locations on your server in bannerex.cgi
• Create all directories shown in the script and CHMOD to 777

User Administration:

To create new users (accounts), point your browser to:

http://www.yourserver.com/cgi-bin/bannerex.cgi?area=new

To have any user login, point your browser to:

http://www.yourserver.com/cgi-bin/bannerex.cgi?area=login

NOTE: The default administrator username is admin and the password is also admin. This will allow you to search for users, edit their account information, and issue banner credits (impressions and clicks).

IMPORTANT: Make sure you upload at least one banner under the administrator's account. This is used as a default if there are no other user's with credits to display banners.

Displaying Banners:

There are two ways to display banners. You can call the script using IMG SRC tags or JavaScript tags.

IMG SRC:

This will create an image on your web page with a hyperlink. After username should be the user who is displaying the banner. the number value can be any number, but must be different for each separate banner you display on your web site. It is used for tracking by the script. However, be sure the number value is the same for both spots above. Lastly, the mode value must be set to 1 when using this method.

JavaScript:

This method will output the tags to your web pages automatically. Just like the IMG SRC method, the number value must be unique for every separate banner you display on your web site. This is used for tracking by the script.
